On 21st September, the Chair of Ashford Allotment Society sent an email saying she had no intention of keeping this website. A new website was to be set up and she wished me to in some way discontinue this website (the email was unclear). See post above for what happens to the website now.
I was not present at the committee meeting of Ashford Allotment Society on 23rd september, and this report is written from the notes of a member who was present as an observer.
No mention was made at the meeting of the existing website, the Chair's plans for a future website, nor was there any reference to a new publicity manager. The Chair simply said that the publicity manager had resigned so there would be no publicity manager's report.
The Chair said that after discussions with other committee members, the matter of the changes to the rules would not be voted on at that meeting. She would choose a small group of people from the committee to decide what should be in the new constitution, and this would be put forward for voting at the AGM, which she expects to be in January. There will be no consultation with the membership.
This is a major proposed change to the Society. Any change in the rules must be approved by a 2/3 majority of members . If the future of the Ashford Allotment Society, which was set up to represent your interest to the council, is of importance to you, you should make sure you find out when the meeting is, and go to it. Please talk to your rep about any concerns or suggestions.
If anyone wants contact details for any member of the committee, including the Chair Penny Winston, please get in touch using the same old email address, [email protected], which I am still using. I'll send you their details, but don't want to publish them for obvious reasons.
