There were some splendid and very elaborate plot numbers on show for the judging, and the decision was a hard one with a long 'short list' of potential winners. The prize is a modest one, so no-one who was pipped to the post at the last minute should feel they have lost out.
Marks were given for imaginative use of materials, ease of reading and durability, among other considerations. Some which looked lovely on the day clearly wouldn't last the winter. After a great deal of soul-searching, this simple, elegant design with pine cones has been selected by the judges as the overall winner. "The winning plot number was particularly impressive because of its simplicity and the use of natural materials. This gives an authentic yet stylish plot number which looked long-lasting. It is very effective as it can be easily seen from a distance".
